ADM VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

ADM VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
By MALLORY DAVIS
Thursday, August 30th, ADM hosted West Central Valley, Perry, I-35, and Newton in their home tournament.  The tournament proved that, while ADM lost some senior power, the 2012 volleyball team cannot be counted out.  ADM won every match and showed that they might surprise people this year.
Junior Maddie Powers summed up the night, “We have a lot of things we did well tonight, but we are going to get stronger and more efficient as the season goes on.”
The next home volleyball game is September 11th playing Boone, but they have another home tournament September 8th. Make sure you come out and support our ADM volleyball team!

The ADM Tigers played their third game of the season at Glenwood High School.  It was the closest game the Tigers played so far against a very talented Glenwood team but pull off the 21-14 victory.
After the win senior running back and safety Jordan Grove stated, “There’s always room for improvement.”  Looking forward on the season, Grove says that “even with three ranked teams on the schedule, I believe we can go undefeated.”
Games stats included Jordan Grove gaining 308 rushing yards with three touchdowns.  Blake Heiman led the team with 37 receiving yards.  Sam Plagman had the most tackles with fourteen, and Dylan Nelson had twelve.
Next Friday the Tigers travel to a tough ranked team, Creston on September 14th.  Grove says, “We’re going to have to have a great week of practice this week and just play as a team on Friday night” in order to come out victorious.

ADM FOOTBALL VS. WINTERSET

The Tigers played their second game of the season and home opener under the Friday Night NEW lights.  The field was brilliant and so were the Tigers as they trounced the Winterset Huskies 48-14.  Though moments in the first quarter seemed a little shaky, once the team got into its game, the players were practically unstoppable.
Quarterback senior Kyle Herrick, who was putting the finishing touches on his varsity debut, “felt a lot more comfortable and learned from my mistakes in the previous game.”  When things got rough we “did a really good job of believing we could battle back.”
Games stats included Jordan Grove gaining 208 yards, Kyle Herrick passing 314 yards, and Zach Ostendorf and Ethan Eckhoff each making five tackles.
The Tigers travel to Glenwood September 7th for their first district game.  Herrick believes that the road trip “will actually help us because it will improve our focus and give us more time to prepare for the game.”

The ADM Tigers opened the 2012 season with an away game on August 24th.  Facing rivals, the DC-G Mustangs, always makes for an exciting night, and this was no exception.
The Tigers controlled the game from the beginning.  According to senior lineman Ethan Eckhoff, “We came out and set the tone early and kept them out of the game.”
In the first game Jordan Grove ran for 273 yards, scoring five touchdowns.  Kyle Herrick completed 106 yards in passing, and Sam Plagman had eleven tackles.
The next game is against the Winterset Huskies at home.  Eckhoff states that “it will be fun to play in front of the home crowd and have the student section cheering us on.”
